Tell us the most memorable thing that happened to you over Christmas break.
ReplyDeleteThe most memorable thing that happened to me over Christmas break was going to a german church on Christmas Eve... It wasn't like in Germany but it was close enought to make me and my mother cry. It was a specail night for all of us
ReplyDeleteWas going to the mountains and snowboarding and seeing my family I have not seen in awhile.
ReplyDeleteFor me was seeing how is the christmas in America.... and it was quite interesting.
ReplyDeleteWell... i'll have to say the most memorable thing for me was this: I didn't get my saxopone when i ordered it, but 12 days later, and in turn i only had to pay $300 for a $1,500 saxophone. FTW.
ReplyDeleteThe most memorable thing that happened over break for me was absolutely nothing in particular. i enjoyed the whole break and being away from school.
ReplyDeletemy most memorable thing was spending time with my family!

ReplyDeleteQuestion for 1/11-1/15:
ReplyDeleteWhat are your initial impressions of Beowulf? Why do you believe that it has lasted through the ages as the tale of an epic hero?
My initial impression was thus, "Oh Lord, an Epic about a pompous, self-absorbed brat."
ReplyDeleteI think that it lasted as a tale told by word of mouth for quite a while, because it was a popular and likely, sole epic in the British area. Since, it has been written and recognized as the British epic, it has been preserved simply for historical purposes.
...and ryan... get over it...
My initial impression is that Beowulf is too stronger and too powerful for a person.
ReplyDeleteI think that the tale of Beowulf is a quite interesting story and more than that a very important piece of the British Literature and thats why it has being out there for so long.
My initial impression of Beowulf is that it's a quite interesting story that was told down to generations and is kind of like a bible story. It has very many symbols for the good VS evil.
ReplyDeleteJoe- I like your initial impression.Could input!
Luiz- I love reading your posts :D
My first impression of it was 'wow i think i am going to fall asleep i am not feelin this at all' but after reading the rest of it today i really enjoyed it a lot and i think it has lasted so long becaue it is a really good story to tell if you modified it a little bit. Frank I agree with you i thought it was going to be about a pompous person just like the donald and luiz that is why probably why it lasted so long cause it was that important to british lit.
ReplyDeletemy first impression was that this is going to be the most boring thing i have ever read, but it is actually interesting. i think it is a great example of british literature.
ReplyDeletei like ashton's and joes!!
ReplyDeleteAshton: You make a good point about the story having alot of good verses evil.
ReplyDeleteJoe: I agree
The epic had such a somber ending.
I agree with Ashton, the story show a lot of God vs. Evil.
ReplyDeleteAnd i dont know Joe, the story is not that boring hahahaha!!!!!
my first impression was that Beowulf is a very intereseting story with a sense of mystery behind it. You have good vs. evil and how to defeat the evil. there are lots of things that make you think in the story. The story has lasted because you can learn from it.
ReplyDeleteQuestion for 1/19-1/22:
ReplyDeleteWhat do you believe is going to be most challenging about The Canterbury Tales?
I am not sure.I think the most challenging will be to understand the old english style. ha
ReplyDeleteI am not sure maybe the fact I haven't ever heard of it and the styl is difficult to understand. Ashton I agree with you as you can see.
ReplyDeleteProbably the most challenging thing about the Canterbury tales is going to be trying to understand the old english.
ReplyDeleteHaving to read in Old English.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Joe that I have never heard of it and with Ashton about the style.
ReplyDeletewell... I'm gonna have to agree with everybody, im dreading that i'll have to attempt to speak/read old english.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with everybody in the most aggresive way possible. I enjoyed reading in Old English. I was MOST GOOD. MMM.. YES...
ReplyDeleteMrs. Smith- teach em about the zuegmas as soon as you getta chance. Actually i'm gonna guest speak about zeugmas. That's right neeever mind
Joe, Nick: I have heard of it but have never read it.
ReplyDeleteBTW whats a zuegma?
Again i agree with ryanne i think that it is going to be difficult with the old enlish
ReplyDeleteThe Old English is gonna be incredible difficult for me, specially because i don't know a lot of words that this text probably have.
ReplyDeleteI think Joe and Ashton are both right, and Nick... i never heard of it and the english is gonna be very very hard!!!
i 100% agree with everyone on the difficulty of the old english piece..it is not going to be fun at all. looking at it today didn't help at all..
ReplyDeleteQuestion for 1/25-1/29:
ReplyDeleteUp to the point, who is the most intriguing character from The Canterbury Tales? Why?
I like the Black Guy. Basically because you didn't see too many black people in stories back in the day... But i did also like the cook... he was mysterious... MMM... i like mysterious
ReplyDeleteSadly, i must agree with Andres, the cook is very mysterious.
ReplyDeleteThe narrator he is intereesting to me becuase I like to hear his take on different people. Like one guy he will take up two pages but with like another he will be like well thats enough of him.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Frank the cook is a little off and pretty much disguisting with that boil on his knee. Although he makes a very good white gravey sauce.
ReplyDeleteI think that might be the narrator, because, he kind of expose some characters, sometimes a little too much, and another just two lines, as we saw today. So i think that because he can be trying to hide something from us and not telling something that in the future can be a key for something!!
ReplyDeleteI think also the narrarator because he describes the people so different and examines people he disliked more than the people he does like.
ReplyDeleteLuiz- I like your thought!
Joe-I agree.. and said pretty much the same. ha
i dont really know..its just one person the narrator telling about all these other characters..maybe the nun because she's the only one that has a name.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ryanne the nun is an interresting one as well I am not really sure what the rest is told but I cannot wait to see.
ReplyDeletehow about i just agree with everyone. the narrator is an interesting fellow with weird habits about who he likes and dislikes and how you can tell that about him about the way he speaks.
ReplyDeleteagreeing with everyone doesn't count.
ReplyDeletei created a blog
ReplyDeletehttp://lookingfortheperfectsituation.blogspot.com/
check it out, i just post my thoughts and beliefs on current topics that have been debated and it would be much appreciated if people went and posted how they view it and what they believe
peace
ps this is tommy
ReplyDeletehow about it does count.
ReplyDeleteQuestion for 2/8-2/12:
ReplyDeleteWhat was the most difficult thing for you in understanding "The Canterbury Tales"?
The most difficult thing for me was understanding if it was indirect characterization or direct characterization. haha
ReplyDeleteTrying to figure out if the narrator really did like the person of not. Understanding what the narrator really meant at some points also.
ReplyDeleteWords in the Old English, and how the text was written.
ReplyDeleteI agree with ryanne and luiz the old english was hard but i could understand a little bit of it and trying to figure out if the narrator did like the persons or not. But i dont know what all the tone he was using. but overall i think he liked the people outside the church (some of them) and the people in the church he didnt like except the nun.
ReplyDeletetommy you can't be blog hopping. Only i can do that
ReplyDeletejoe that was just awful
ReplyDeleteAs ryanne stated, it was quite arduous trying to determine whether the narrator liked or disliked certain characters.
ReplyDeleteandres- you make these blogs so much more fun.ha
ReplyDeleteluiz- yeah some of the words were hard to understand
Ashton, i agree 100%
ReplyDeleteQuestion for 2/16-2/19:
ReplyDeleteDo you like poetry? Why or why not?
I LOVE POETRY! I enjoy how a lot of poetry gets me thinking on a deeper level. I also enjoy writing poetry. To me its quite liberating, its like writing a song or painting a picture to express thoughts and feelings, hopes and fears, or just to relieve stress. Also, generally the people who would take the time to read my poetry are people who think with depth similar to my own, which for me, is a comforting thought.
ReplyDeleteme too! frank, I sooo agree. i love poetry. but only sometimes...
ReplyDeleteI definitely can't write any but i like reading and feeling the emotions from the poem that that person was feeling at the time they wrote it.
I am a fan of poetry but sometimes it is not my favorite i dislike shakespear i am not sure why i just sometimes he doesn't make sense and others i am just not in the mood for. but anyone that likes songs likes poetry because thats really all songs are. I agree with both Frank and Ryanne as you can see here with Frank I agree about the sometimes part it has to catch me in the right mood. With Ryanne I do like to see into how people felt at the time the were writing the specific piece of poetry.
ReplyDeleteI like some of the poetry, if i don't like one is specially because i didn't understand or just because was boring =D!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLuiz, your comments are always intersting to read, relitively brief, and earnest!
ReplyDeleteAnd Ryanne i totally concur with what you said about feeling what they were feeling. It's often endearing to empathize with the poet; its like you are become their friend and you haven't even met them.
now this is the 4 time i am writing this.. it better work..
ReplyDeletei love poetry, i can usually relate to the writer and it gives me insight and more thought to actions and reality.. Poetry is a lovely way of showing and letting out emotions.
Frank- you are completely 100% right about what you said with you feel like they are you're friend even though you dont know them.
Joe- I cant believe you dislike Shakespear!!!
everyone said the same thing pretty much and soo i do agree with everyone. Shakespeare is difficult to understand because they were written so long ago.
ReplyDeletethere you go agreeing with everyone again. Poetry is mah life though I love it almost as much as joe likes sleeping with a blankie
ReplyDeleteQuestion for 2/22-2/26:
ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite thing about poetry? List at least one.
my favorite thing about poetry is the rhyming, the emotion, and the way the words can speak to you in different ways and mean something totally different to you than to someone else.
ReplyDeleteThe messages that is hidden in the words of the poem, that when you find out, makes a lot of sense and usually is pretty good messages.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about poetry is acting visualizing the people writing it down and what they were going through at the time and seeing that be expressed in the poetry. I agree with Ryanne on the emotion in the poetry it adds more than I think we know. And as with what luiz said the mystery behind it. It makes it more fascinating.
ReplyDeletemy favorite thing is the mystery of finding the meaning of the poem.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joe, is very fun visualize how things worked that time, is almost like a movie where you can see how people were and how was there lives.
ReplyDeleteAnd i think that what Ashton said is good too, find the meaning is good and make the poem have sense.
My favorite thing is finding that peom that 100% fits my situation or feelings at the time. Its a priceless connection... and a means of viewing the situation from someone elses perspective.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything ryanne said.. but not so much the rhyming, thats just icing on the cake if u get a legit rhyme.
ReplyDeleteI agree with luiz! as usual.
everybody agrees with everyone :D
ReplyDeleteQuestion for 3/22-3/26:
ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite character from Macbeth and why?
Mcduff one because he reminds me of the homer simpson beer and two because he is one of those charcters in a play that you do not really except to come out and be the page turner but i think he might bring a bigger problem than shown he is like the Antony in Julius Cesar.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite would be MacDuff, primarily because he will be the one to slay MacBeth.. or atleast i think...
ReplyDeleteHA joe... i think about Duff beer just about every time i read the name MacDuff, you arent alone buddy.
ReplyDeletei do not have a favorite. maybe its just the random old man thats the comic relief character.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like Macbeth, not because he pretty much kills everybody he sees but is because i would like to find out what does pass through his mind, what does he think about life, and how much is life for him. Thats why i like this character.
ReplyDeleteHa i like what ryanne said the old butler guy he was really funny. I agree with Luiz as well Macbeth was just a fascinating man with the thoughts that must have raced through his mind.
ReplyDeleteQuestion for 3/29-4/1:
ReplyDeleteList at least one issue that is in the news this week and outline whether the media is treating it with bias or objectivity. Be sure to detail its origin. If you are in my senior worldview class, please respond there only.
The healthcare reform again CNN says this is the best thing ever. While the truth is if you read the bill it is going to bankrupt the country because we cannot afford 33 million people in a country that is in a 19 trillion dollar debt. And now everyone is going to be taxed like crazy but that still will not help it and again CNN still thinks that Obama and the Senate is just GOd's among stupid men.
ReplyDeleteThe media is definately treating the healthcare bill with bias. I haven't read one bit of the healthcare bill and I can't even formulate a legitimate opinion, but i do know certain networks like CNN are liberal based and they are behind the decision of the Liberal government officials like soccer moms are behind their little soccer playing kids. And you better not tell them their soccer kids are wrong.
ReplyDeleteyeah i saw the healthcare reform on the news. They say like you can take old people suffering off of it and just basically let them die. i dont really know much..cause idont really watch the news and keep up, but everyone is talking about this healthcare bill. Also its paying for abortion!
ReplyDeleteAgain couldnt agree more with frank and ryanne the healthcare bill is just beyond wrong and we are going to pay for it in the end.
